Does anyone have a diagram of the front suspension?

What is the part that goes from the front axle back to a mount on the frame on either side? Looks like some sort of locating bar made out of pressed steel.

Thanks.

I don't have a diagram, but it sounds like you're talking about the track bar. It keeps the axle centered in conjunction with the control arms (2 forward facing arms on either side of the axle).

Actually these bars extend to the rear of the axle and mount to a point on the frame. I thought the track bar ran parallel with the axle.

You're describing the control arms. There are uppers and lowers 2 ea.

Thanks but these are definitely not the control arms. These come off of the rear of the axle and head towards the rear of the truck and mount to the frame rail on either side. There is only two, one on each side. The rear mount is on the frame about 24" in back of the axle. They are shaped like long skinny dog bones.

Thanks for the try though. I just don't what to call these things so I can look for replacements.

Maybe try taking a picture and putting it up here. You are talking about the front axle, right?

Sorry, nowhere near my truck. Yes front axle. Either side of the axle, about 12" in from the ends of the axle and run backwards to the frame. It appears their job is to keep the axle from moving forwards and backwards. They each have a round mount on both ends. It also appears that the front mount has a cam bolt that I would assume is used to adjust the caster. You can see this part if you look at the truck from the side behind the front wheel. Hope this helps.

You are talking about the control arms. You may think they are not control arms because they don't look like your typical passenger car or two wheel drive truck control (with ball joint, triangle shape) but they are your control arms.

Ok, I'll take your word for it. So my next question is how would the mount on one get rounded out. The axle end on the driver's side now resembles an oval. I have never hit anything and have had the truck for the last 20k miles. It doesn't seem that there is a rubber bushing there. Is there a bushing? Can it be replaced? Thanks.

The bolt must have been loose for the hole to get oval'ed out. There is a bushing that you can replace (they can be a pain to get out) try to find poly bushings as they will last longer. BTW you also have upper control arms (it's what makes this a 4 link suspension system)

I know you said you're not near your truck, but we need to see some pics of what you're talking about. That will give us all the info we need to answer your questions.
